This is just an average comedy with about as many laughs as any other. There are a few moments where I generally found myself amused but the moments that aren’t as amusing come just as often. The problem with this movie is they tend to drag out the parts that are the least funny in the entire movie (“Simple Jack” and the entire Jack Black character). There are some really impressive parts however, Robert Downey Jr. and Nick Nolte especially. I also felt there was a good mix of actual writing humor and slapstick humor. Again though too much of it falls flat for this to be considered one of the best comedies of the decade, but it is a solid effort.
